Lapa Rios is owned by John and Karen Lewis. When they visited the property for the first time , they thought that they can develop their Eco lodge and after establishing the lodge they named it Lapa Rios. Lapa is the Costa Rican name of the Scarlet Macaws and when John and Karen visited the place they spotted a number of Scarlet Macaws and flying across the jungle that looked much like a river (or Rio in Spanish) of Scarlet Macaws and from that they inspire to name their Eco Lodge “Lapa Rios”.
