Preidlhof Luxury DolceVita Resort

Preidlhof is an adults-only luxury spa resort in Naturns, near Merano in Italy's South Tyrol, at the foot of the Texel Group mountains. It's best for adults who want a big, serious spa with guided retreats, medical health checks and Alpine hiking on the doorstep.

What it's like

Preidlhof sits in Naturns, a village in the Vinschgau valley a short drive west of Merano. The resort lies at the foot of the Texel Group nature park, with vineyards and orchards around it and mountains rising behind. The area gets plenty of sunshine, and the climate feels part Alpine, part Mediterranean.

It's adults only, and the whole place is built around the spa. The standout is a six-floor sauna tower filled with saunas and Turkish baths, plus a snow room that drops to minus 10 degrees. Add a panoramic sauna with valley views, an infinity pool, a rooftop pool, a thermal pool and plenty of whirlpools, and you can spend days without repeating yourself. The sauna areas are textile-free except in marked zones.

The programs

Preidlhof runs year-round retreats that you can join on your own dates, plus some dated retreats. Most mix medical assessments, sensory treatments, one-to-one sessions and group classes, and the schedule can be shaped around your health history and goals.

Retreat guests can join daily classes such as restorative yoga, qi gong, laughter yoga, face yoga, sound healing, forest bathing and mindful eating, plus a hike on the local Sun Mountain and wellness lectures. The Preidl Med Spa adds medical health checks, packages and therapies.

Food

Food is a big part of the stay. There's a gourmet restaurant with a farm-to-fork approach, a lighter wellness restaurant and a winery side where dishes are paired with local wines. Mention any dietary needs when you book.

Getting there

Bolzano airport is about 40 minutes away by car. Innsbruck and Verona airports are each roughly two to two and a half hours, Venice about three and a quarter hours and Munich about four. The resort can arrange airport transfers for an extra charge, and guests get free underground parking.
